Wilton has now posted draft minutes for its July 15, 2026 Planning Board meeting, turning the Stewart’s Maple Avenue discussion from an agenda-only item into a documented set of actions.
The minutes show the board approved the Adirondack Trust amended site plan and lot-line adjustment and gave Walton’s a SEQRA negative declaration plus preliminary site-plan approval.
But the main Stewart’s application — a proposed 4,500-square-foot convenience store with a six-pump, 12-position fueling canopy at Maple Avenue and Davidson Drive — did not receive final approval that night. The draft minutes say the public hearing remained open.
The posted discussion identifies several issues still in play. According to the minutes, the applicant sought a traffic-mitigation waiver in exchange for underground stormwater work, but the Planning Board said only the Town Board can waive those fees. The Planning Board also required underground stormwater management anyway.
The minutes say board members want extensive buffering along Davidson Drive, including a berm and trees, and expect more traffic review after an independent third-party traffic analysis is completed.
That leaves the main Stewart’s project active, even as related parcel work moved ahead.
For nearby residents, the practical takeaway is that the July 15 meeting did not settle the biggest neighborhood questions about Route 9 traffic, turning movements, lighting and screening. Those questions remain tied to the still-open main hearing.
The next record to watch is the next Planning Board action on the open Stewart’s hearing. Wilton’s posted 2026 Planning Board schedule says there is no August board meeting, so the next regular meeting listed is Sept. 16, 2026.
