Help Build Wilton Wire
This site works.
But it could be a lot better.
Right now it runs mostly on automation and very limited human review. That’s efficient, but it has obvious limits.
If you care about local transparency and want to help improve this, there’s room.
Where help is needed
1. Editorial review (highest impact)
- Read auto-generated posts before or after publishing
- Flag inaccuracies or missing context
- Clean up wording where needed
This alone would significantly improve quality.
2. Writing / reporting
- Turn summaries into stronger, more structured articles
- Add context the automation can’t see
- Cover specific topics consistently (zoning, development, enforcement, etc.)
3. Deep-dive research
There is already a system in place for longer investigative-style pieces.
Help could include:
- Identifying topics worth digging into
- Reviewing outputs
- Adding human judgment and direction
4. Technical / workflow
If you’re technical:
- Improve automation pipelines
- Help with sourcing, filtering, or structuring data
- Optimize publishing workflows
What this is (and isn’t)
This is:
- Early-stage
- Lightweight
- Flexible
This is not:
- A salaried newsroom
- A fully structured organization
- Something with a lot of overhead
Right now, this is closer to a collaborative side project with potential.
Potential upside
With consistent contributions, this could realistically become:
- A small local media outlet
- Ad-supported or lightly monetized
- A reliable go-to for town activity
Not a huge business. But not nothing either.
Ground rules (non-negotiable)
Anyone contributing should align with this:
- Accuracy matters more than speed once you touch it
- No personal agendas driving coverage
- No hit pieces
- No inventing narratives beyond what the record supports
- Be willing to correct mistakes
- Keep it grounded in public information and verifiable facts
Tone can be critical. It should not be reckless.

Time expectations
There aren’t any.
Contribute as much or as little as you want. Even occasional input is useful.
