Residents looking for a simple official list of Wilton’s local laws are still being sent to an outdated index.
On July 5, the Clerk’s Office department-staff page continued to link an item labeled “Index Listing of Local Laws (pdf).” The PDF ends with Local Law No. 1 of 2022, listed as Mountain Ledge PUDD. It does not show any entries for 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026.
But Wilton’s own Town Board minutes show the town has enacted local laws since then.
The approved April 2, 2026 Town Board minutes say the board approved Local Law No. 2 of 2026, amending Chapter 43-17 of the Town Code to allow collection of enforcement expenses tied to Town Code violations. The approved June 4, 2026 Town Board minutes say the board approved Local Law No. 3 of 2026, a moratorium on battery energy storage systems, or BESS.
That means a resident using the clerk-linked index as a current guide to Wilton’s enacted local laws would miss at least those two 2026 laws.
This does not mean the laws are hidden. The individual hearing notices, agenda materials and meeting minutes are posted elsewhere on the town site. But the index page is the obvious place for someone to check whether a measure became law and what number it received. As posted on July 5, it was not current.
What would resolve the mismatch is straightforward: an updated index PDF, or a replacement page, that carries the town’s local-law list forward through the most recent enacted laws.
