Updated May 25, 2026 with new reporting. The town has now published material new details—the June 3 bid deadline and September work window—but the underlying visibility problem remains unchanged.
The legal notice now gives a concrete bid deadline and says the collection work will happen on a Saturday in September 2026, but residents still have to find it through Legal Notices rather than a live bid listing.
Wilton has added more usable details to its Hazardous Waste Day procurement notice: bids are due by 1 p.m. on June 3, 2026, and the collection contract is supposed to be completed on a mutually agreed Saturday in September. But the town’s own Requests for Bids and Proposals page still does not show an active bid entry for it. The Town of Wilton’s Hazardous Waste Day collection bid is now more concrete than it was a few days ago. The legal notice says sealed bids are due in the Town Clerk’s office by 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2026, with a public opening one minute later. It also says the work is to be completed on a Saturday in September 2026 agreed upon by the town and the successful contractor. (townofwilton.ny.gov)
The basic procurement problem has not been fixed
Wilton’s Requests for Bids and Proposals page still does not independently list the Hazardous Waste Day bid. Instead, the page tells readers to view all current legal notices. In other words, the official bids page still functions more like a detour sign than a real one-stop bid board. (townofwilton.ny.gov)
Why this matters
This is routine municipal purchasing, not a giant megaproject. That is exactly why it should be easy to follow. A taxpayer should not have to guess whether a live town bid is on the bids page, the legal-notices page, or both.
Wilton deserves some credit for eventually publishing the missing details. But if the town wants to claim transparency, the cleaner solution is obvious: when there is an active bid, the active-bids page should plainly show it. (townofwilton.ny.gov)
