A regional radio report adds new public detail to Wilton’s emergency Town Board meeting on tornado cleanup, including resident complaints and the supervisor’s stated pickup timeline.
A Sept. 3 regional news report added new detail to Wilton’s Aug. 31 emergency Town Board meeting on tornado and storm damage, describing resident complaints about debris pickup and Supervisor Toni Strum’s statement that contractor help would continue into Sept. 11.
Wilton’s posted Aug. 31 emergency Town Board agenda identified the meeting’s sole topic as “August 27, 2026 Tornado and Storm Damage.”
A Sept. 3 report from WAMC says residents used that meeting to press the town for clearer cleanup expectations after the Aug. 27 storm and tornado.
According to the report, resident Mike Mandel argued the town should keep returning for debris pickup rather than treating it as a one-time courtesy. The same report says Supervisor Toni Strum responded that the town had focused first on larger roads, that most right-of-way cleanup was done by Sept. 2, and that Sears Tree would assist with pickup on Friday, Sept. 4 and again on Friday, Sept. 11.
That gives residents more substance than Wilton’s posted emergency-meeting notice had provided when the meeting was first announced.
Official record still limited
As of a Sept. 4 review, Wilton’s Town Board minutes page still listed Aug. 6, 2026 as the latest available Town Board minutes. That means residents looking for the town’s own written account of the Aug. 31 emergency meeting still do not have it on the usual minutes page.
Until Wilton posts minutes or video, the public record for what happened at the meeting remains a mix of the agenda topic line and outside reporting.
