The regional education agency says its Vision 2027 project at 230 Ballard Road will consolidate programs now spread across Saratoga Springs, Hudson Falls and Glens Falls into one new Wilton campus.
WSWHE BOCES says it has broken ground on a new instructional campus at 230 Ballard Road in Wilton, moving a long-discussed regional school project into construction with an estimated $98.6 million in construction costs and a planned fall 2027 opening.
WSWHE BOCES has announced the start of construction on its Vision 2027 campus in Wilton, a project that would bring its Career and Technical Education and Exceptional Learners Division programs onto one site at 230 Ballard Road.
According to the BOCES announcement and project pages, the campus would sit on 45.5 acres and include about 291,650 square feet of space. The agency says that includes three instructional buildings, 44 CTE classrooms or shops, 53 Exceptional Learners classrooms, gymnasiums, playgrounds and therapeutic spaces.
BOCES says current programs in Saratoga Springs, Hudson Falls and Glens Falls would eventually be brought together at the Wilton campus. It also says Early College Career Academy programs housed at SUNY Adirondack are not part of this move and will stay where they are.
The project pages frame the plan as a lower-cost alternative to major repair work at older sites. In its FAQ, BOCES says a 2024 building condition survey found more than $80 million in needed work at its existing BOCES-owned facilities over the next five to eight years. The same FAQ says a new BOCES-owned campus was estimated at about $160 million, while the selected 20-year lease approach was estimated at about $96 million to $98.6 million.
For Wilton readers, the immediate local change is simple: this is no longer just a concept page or facilities presentation. A large regional campus is now moving ahead on Ballard Road near Exit 16, which means future construction activity and, over time, a permanent school presence at the site.
BOCES says construction is expected to be substantially complete by June 2027, with students entering the new facility in fall 2027. The agency also says it will release a more detailed transition plan for families, staff and component districts closer to opening.
