Mr. Riper then updated the board on another newly funded project: improvements to Loudon Road between Ruggles Road and the town line. He explained that this segment has numerous sharp curves, narrow shoulders, and deep roadside ditches. It has a history of run-off-the-road incidents, making it a prime candidate for a “highway departure” safety project. The town applied for funds under that program and was awarded about $1.67 million, which will cover both design and construction.
